OUR 2008 LAMBS
Our 2008 lambing season started February 26th with the arrival of our first triplets!
The little white one is a ewe weighing in at 6 pounds. The other two are her brothers, each weighing 7 pounds. Pebbles (the mother) delivered without any assistance from us, which is what drew me to choose this breed (Katahdin)! She exhibited the ease of delivery and excellent mothering instincts in fine fashion.

The other red ram lamb (with the white blazed face) did not survive. Seemed very healthy but didn't nurse good enough to get sufficient amount of colostrum.
Here are the remaining two at a week old. The red ram (Rusty) and the white ewe I've named RedNecked Girl because she has a large red spot on the back of her neck.
(Her under-tail area is not dirty, it's actually her coat color......red. : )

Our 4 1/2 month old ES pup, Mack absolutely loves these baby lambs! He accompanies me when doing chores, his favorite time of day! Here he's giving a gentle (nose) touch with a tiny lick to Rusty, at a week old. Pebbles, the mother ewe's gotten quite comfortable having Mack looking over her babies.

A week later Pebble's twin sister (Wilma) gave birth to triplets. They are all red/brown. Two are ram lambs and one's a lil' ewe. One ram weighed 7 pounds, the other 6 pounds. The lil' girl also weighed 6 pounds. These are all nursing well so keeping our fingers crossed, they'll continue to thrive......very spunky lambs for being newborns!

Another picture of Wilma's triplets. In the background Mack will sit the entire time keeping a close watch over the babies.
