CEDAR CREEK WESTERKAMP'S BENTLEY

December 2009,

"Season Greetings & Happy Holidays.
Just a little update from our farm to yours.

The following photos are throughout this year's seasons: Summer (left), Fall (middle) and Winter (bottom).

It's a boy and his dog, Corbin & Bentley. They love each other and love to play together.

Bentley likes to play a game of tag with a pretty red rooster that I have.
He'll play-bow and/or offer his paw to get the rooster going, then they chase each other until they get tired of it.
He helps put the chickens back in to roost at night.

Bentley nearly sheds his entire coat in the summer and when it grows back for colder temps, it gets darker and darker."

[ My note: In this particular photo (left), Bentley resembles his paternal-grandsire Dalby's Laddie .]

"Bentley absolutely loves to go chore with me and when I am feeding the cattle he is checking out the silo shed for mice and rats which he is ever so quick to catch and kill.
He also dug out moles in the lawn this summer.

Bentley is now 1 yr. 7 mos. old today and does not want to sleep in a dog house but prefers to sleep on the snow because he has such a thick coat of fur. He is a solid 70 pound guy, knows no strangers yet keeps a good eye on the farm.
He will sound a good alarm if anything is out-of-the-ordinary.

He makes sure Corbin is safe. At chore time he protects (Corbin) from the horses pawing at the gate by barking, moving them back. Besides, Bentley knows the horses are not suppose to do that."
