CEDAR CREEK ERLANDSON'S FERGIE
(Living on a dairy farm in WI.)

Eight weeks

December 2009
(Update @ 18 months old)

Dear Peg,
Fergie is doing GREAT!! We have had our ups and downs with her but she seems to be doing better. She was very timid at first...but within the last few months, she finally has gotten her courage up and will help with herding the cows. If the young goats get out, she is right there getting them back in their fence.
We are very happy with her. We have trained her to stay off the road and she obeys that very well.
She does very well with the day care kids. Protects them all the time. If anyone strange drives in our driveway during day care hours...FERGIE is there giving me the warning bark. She plays with the kids very nice when we are outside.
Funny story, one night a dad (who Fergie knows) came to pick up their child. The child did not want to go home, the child took off running and the dad chased the child. When the dad grabbed the child, the child screamed and Fergie was there nipping (not biting!) at the dad. When I said "enough" to Fergie, she stopped.

Once again, we are pleased with her and she LOVES her farm chores. Each month she surprises us with another task that she can handle.
I will update you again, and try to get some pics of her herding the cows in for milking.
